Burna Boy is a Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artist known for his genre-blending sound and powerful global influence. Often referred to as the “African Giant,” Burna Boy has played a critical role in taking Afrobeats and Afro-fusion to a worldwide audience, fusing traditional African rhythms with dancehall, reggae, hip-hop, and pop to create a distinct sonic identity.
With a career marked by critically acclaimed albums, sold-out international tours, and groundbreaking collaborations, Burna Boy stands as one of Africa’s most celebrated and culturally impactful musicians of his generation.
Born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, to a media-savvy family—his mother, Bose Ogulu, a former translator and talent manager, and his grandfather, Benson Idonije, the legendary manager of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti—Burna Boy was immersed in music and culture from an early age.
He began producing music at the age of 10 and later moved to the UK to study media technology at the University of Sussex and Oxford Brookes University. Burna eventually returned to Nigeria to fully pursue a career in music.
