Gabzy was born and raised in Peckham within a Nigerian household, which fostered his deep connection to Afrobeat and highlife sounds. He began singing in school choirs around age nine and later explored rapping and freestyling during his teenage years. He also spent two years living in New York, further enriching his musical influences.

Gabzy launched his music career in 2016 and quickly became known for his smooth vocals, soulful lyricism, and genre-blending style fusing Afrobeat, R&B, soul, and Amapiano.

One of his earliest breakthrough projects was the collaborative EP Summers (2019), produced with American beatmaker Melvitto, which earned critical praise for its emotional and cohesive storytelling.

He followed up with the solo EP Malone (December 2020), introducing his alter ego “Mr. Malone”—a confidant voice that blends swagger with vulnerability. The EP received a positive reception and helped solidify his reputation in the UK Afro-fusion scene

In 2024, Gabzy released tracks like “Piano” (featuring Lekaa Beats), “X”, and “Hear Me Out,” which collectively garnered over 1 million streams in early 2024.
