Former Vice Leader Namadi Sambo Dumps PDP For APC
A former Vice Leader of Nigeria, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija Report reports that Sambo, born 2nd August, 1954, is a Nigerian politician who was Vice Leader of Nigeria from 19 May 2010 to 29 May 2015.
The Kaduna-born politician served during the administration of former Leader Goodluck Jonathan.
He previously served as Governor of Kaduna State from 2007 to 2010.
Following his defection, the former Vice Leader was pictured with the incumbent Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.
Sambo became the latest high-profile politician to dump the PDP for the APC in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, a former National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ismail Ahmed, has ruled out the chances of Nigerians publicly stoning Leader Bola Tinubu, APC leaders and administration officials out of frustration with the state of things in the country.
According to him, all hope is not lost, and Nigerians would listen to the leaders and trust the process.
Naija Report reports that Ahmed made the submission on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television, in which he spoke about the performance of the Tinubu administration within its initially two years in office.
Asked by the anchor to justify what the APC-led administration has done for Nigerians in the past two years, to avert getting stoned, the party stalwart stated the APC and Leader Tinubu have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy.
He stated the hope and expectations of Nigerians have not been dashed by the current administration, and while the expectations of several residents have not been met, the administration still has another two years to deliver on its promises.
Ahmed justified the increased borrowings by the Tinubu administration, noting that the funds are not being wasted or embezzled, but are being channelled to infrastructural developments in the country, and Nigerians can see the evidence of several monumental projects getting completed.
According to him, despite complaints from several quarters about issues such as economic hardship, instability, and rising hunger in the country, which they attributed to the leader’s ill-conceived policies, the APC-led Tinubu administration has not performed poorly in its initially two years in office.
